automated archiving tool

Hi all,
I'm searching for a software to do an automated dvd/cd archiving of files, I 
don't think this is exactly a backup:
1) users will put files on a common folder (exported via samba or something 
else)
2) when the files do suffice to burn a dvd or a cd the software will do the iso 
and burn them, placing the list of files somewhere (possibly in a database or 
in a text file I can crunch with a script)
3) the files will be removed, if files remain the system will wait for another 
dvd to burn
4) the dvd will be labeled with a unique label

and so on. Is there a command line tool or something I can use on a server to 
do this? Any suggestion is welcome.
