if the OP can boot at all and get a console, he should be able to
install using jockey from command line...

I'm not sure how far you're getting in the boot process, but try
getting to a console by hitting CTRL-ALT-F1, then log in.

then you can look at the man page for jockey:

man jockey-text

and that'll tell you how to scan for available drivers and install them.

Jockey is the tool that runs when you use the "Hardware Drivers" menu item.
