downloading xtrkcad

running version 8.04, downloaded xtrkcad-setup-4.0.3a.i386.sh
it is now sitting on desktop, tried terminal sudo, atp/sudo, no joy
can anyone help.
q2 can pdf and ps files be converted to open office
