Why runlevel 5? You must be on the wrong list. :) Your idea is correct 
of course, but on Debian derived systems like Ubuntu, there is no 
difference between runlevels 2, 3, 4, 5 and the standard runlevel is 2 
(see /usr/share/doc/sysv-rc/README.runlevels.gz). Granted, you could use 
runlevel 5 if you want to, but that would be a non standard setup.
