I have found that the overwhelming majority of mail readers/handlers
default to top-posting, and not too many of them even offer the
inherent behavior of bottom-posting replies (I think Evolution was the
first one I've ever seen that does).
It's a little more work to bottom-post, but for all the reasons I, you
and others have already stated, it is simply better for environments
like this.
Apparently, some users are simply unwilling to invest that tiny amount
of effort to adhere to list conventions, even though some seem to feel
that it is entirely appropriate to lecture other list members about
how stupid the rules are while simultaneously demanding help for
problems they cannot solve on their own. Even when I was as arrogant
as that, I didn't try it. (My arrogance has taken a different turn
over the last 31 years or so.... ;^)
