Openoffice.org Word Processor keeps shutting down on me in a middle of a document

Hello there,

When I read or create a document my OO Word processor keeps shutting
down on me.  For example, I was trying to read one of my text books that
was prepared for me I could read so much and then OO Word Processor
would disappear.  It also seems as though my OO word processor thinks
that it has to fix documents each time I start it.  What options do I
have to repair this?
