Compaq nc6320 laptop suspend issue in 10.04

Compaq has Suspend/sleep issues.  Period.  I've had 2 Compaqs go into
suspend mode and not recover without technnical assistance.  wth is that???
 The sleep option must be turned off.  Then never buy another Compaq.  I
never had another computer do that.  ever.
