That doesn't matter.
XP has a hard coded limitation on the number of half open TCP connections,
so you would be less likely to stress the router.
It's within the realm of possibilities that the network driver in 9.10 had
a similar limitation.

It's just that I have seen substantial differences between a €40 router
and a €400 router.
