Well I'll add my two cents worth...I have been using Ubuntu, since it first came out...(snip)
... .It became so bad that I had to re-install WIN, not once but many times to get rid of the problems... (snip)
...Also with getting effected by some virus, or worm, this I do not worry about since I started using Linux some 15, to 20 years ago...(snip)
... So it is a learning curve to anyone right out from WINDOZE...

Larry, you are clearly way ahead of me, & all props to you. That said, I've had to reinstall Ubuntu MANY times. Instead of getting answers (when Google didn't yeild an answer) I end up with people who want to act like I wasn't invitited to the Linux "party". So I reinstall. THIS time it has no fixed my problem, but I've already reinstalled, 3rd time for 10.04 in vain. The 2nd point I'll make... I'm on >1-year on Ubuntu. You mention 10-20 years experiance. Geez, a year later & I can't get help fixing this... maybe Linux really isn't for 99.99% of people out there. I wasn't trying to join an exclusive club, more like be on the ground floor of a movement.

I generally don't get involved in troll emails, making an exception here. Ubuntu Linux 10.04 is the best Ubuntu ever and while there will be some people whose hardware will have problems with installing, and this is no different than any other operating system (try installing Windows 7 or Vista on older hardware!). What you won't have, given you are able to successfully install Lucid Lynx is driver issues and system instabilities and you DON'T need any knowledge or skills to install and use it. If you can use Windows or OSX, you can use Ubuntu Linux 10.04. In terms of hard compatibility and drivers, Ubuntu Linux 10.04 rocks! One example of this is my laptop where Lucid provides WPA2 compatibility with the built in wireless adapter (Acer Aspire 5610Z) and wireless access has never been easier, out of the box, no WCID or other tweaks. WindowsXP on the same computer does not support, will not connect to WPA2 wireless networks, and the latest wireless driver is installed. Another example of the strength of Ubuntu Linux 10.04 is in the number of distributions switching to the Ubuntu 10.04 base including Puppy Linux, aka, Lucid Puppy.

One other thing, if you are having problems with installing Linux, see if you have a local Linux User Group (LUG) or look on Launchpad for your area's (State or country) Team LoCo (Local Community) at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamList where you can get help!

One other thing, posts should have follow the rule on no top posting!

Clint
