Awesome tip, Brian. I never knew this. I use an APC UPS, with apcupsd. 
Everything just works great, and I had seen the UPS-related settings 
under Power Management, but I also never knew it was actually detecting 
my UPS! I Chose to display an icon in the notification area and it 
actually display my UPS status.

Neat! Learned something new :-)
