See:

thomas at AMD64:~$ sudo apt-get update
[sudo] password for thomas:
...skipped

thomas at AMD64:~$ sudo apt-get upgrade

The following packages will be upgraded:
   acpid anjuta anjuta-common anjuta-dbg empathy empathy-common file-roller
   gedit gedit-common gimp gimp-data gimp-dbg libgimp2.0
   nautilus-sendto-empathy
14 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 38.4MB of archives.
After this operation, 504kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

Looks like there is no new kernel?

Anyway I apply the upgrade and try again. But it looks like these
packages have nothing to do with Thunderbird.
