I will summarize here some advantages of using the Ubuntu DVD for
installation, that many may not know.


Ubuntu DVD provides the following installation abilities:


1. The installation options of the regular Ubuntu installation CD:

Live CD, and Graphical installer.


2. The installation options of Alternate installation CD, by choosing
the option [Install Ubuntu in text mode] during boot.


3. The installation options of Ubuntu Server CD, by choosing the option
[Install Ubuntu in text mode] during boot. 


Plus it provides the ability to install the graphical environment along
with the server stuff.



Abilities (2.) and (3.) are used together, when the option [Install
Ubuntu in text mode], giving additional flexibility.



In summary, Ubuntu DVD provides all the abilities of Ubuntu CD, Ubuntu
Alternate CD, and Ubuntu Server CD, providing some additional
flexibility not available in those stand alone CDs, like installing the
servers together with the graphical environment, and all these while
occupying the physical space of one medium.
