definite issues with flash plugin(s) on lynx

starting with a fresh install of 10.04 on a gateway NV52 laptop,
system comes up nicely, fire up FF, pop over to youtube.com (knowing,
of course, that trying to play anything will fail but just wanting to
check the flash plugin install process and how well it works), when i
select to install a flash plugin, i'm presented with the following
choices:
* Adobe
* Swfdec
* Gnash
for fun, i select "gnash", it apparently installs but any attempt
to play a video fails with an error message. so, the first question,
is the gnash player actually working for anyone?
in any event, since that failed miserably, remove gnash and install
the official adobe player, which will allow me to watch a video but,
weirdly, none of the video buttons seem to work -- can't stop the
video, can't adjust audio, can't dismiss the google ads dialog.
anyone else having these issues?
