New dual-boot install: Cannot boot Ubuntu

So it's now?:
sdb1: 160 GB: shared FAT32 partition. In Windows: F:, in Ubuntu:
/media/shared
sda1: 30 GB: Windows XP C:
sda2: 2 GB: swap
sda3: 48 GB: Kubuntu 9.10

? If so, reinstall grub2 to sda. Before you do that, what happens if you
temporarily disconnect sdb (the 160gb) and try to boot?
