error with java

I realize that I should probably clarify:
- completely remove all of the openjava and sun-java6 packages that you
previouly installed. In Synaptic select the package, right-click, select
'Mark for complete removal', and then click apply. This will remove all
the configuration files as well as the package install.
- conflicts can occur if you have both openjdk and sun-java6 installed
at the same time. Only use one or the other. Openjdk + icedtea are the
'pushed' java versions from Ubuntu, but I've found (and launchpad pretty
well backs this up) that sun-java6 is the better choice/option for me.
