Antivirus and anti spam for ubuntu desktop

Many people were and are having problems.
My problems were not unique.

I decided to give Mint a try after I was not able
to get a copy of Debian. I did pick up a magazine
with a couple of other distros which I was going
to try if Mint did ot work. So far, there have
not been any problems. I have not fully set it
up - using the browser for e/m from Comcast and
not Thunderbird or other program.

I was aware that Mint is based upon Ubuntu but
hope that it was not released before it was ready.

Malware that affects PCs with Internet Explorer can't affect you on
Linux using Firefox. Relax.

Do you know this? Have you any evidence or proof? Because millions of
us are using Ubuntu without any problems.

In any event, Mint is *the same code* with some different themes &
bundled apps. If there are problems in Ubuntu, they same ones are
there in Mint too.
