About programming languaje for ubuntu(linux in general)

I installed already gambas2(Vb for ubuntu) is really good only I need to learn is the different type of proyect from gambas2, I saw have a few type of proyect but I don't know the different.

Hoe doesn't have to learn how to program, he already knows how to do that.
On Windows. So I assume that he knows his way around an IDE...
