4 button trackball via USB adaptor...

I have this device as well and use it directly with my laptop's USB port
- all buttons function individually and as expected. This is true on
several laptops in fact (all running Ubuntu Jackalope or Karmic) - but
all with USB directly, no adapter. Hope that helps.
