Organizing my fonts

I am going nuts organizing my fonts for different usages, and the
problem is double as most fonts look good in one language but not
another (I use two languages very frequently). After tackiling this
issue on again, off again for some weeks I have come to the conclusion
that I have three different use cases and therefore might need three
separate applications. These are my needs:

1) Show a line of text in every font in a particular directory
2) Show all the glyphs of a particular font
3) Show all fonts with a glyph of a particular unicode character

If anyone knows an application that does all that, I'd love to hear
about it. Otherwise, suggestions for each item separately would be
equally appreciated. I can pretty much do all the above with Font
Matrix but it is a bit buggy. Font Forge might also be a help, but it
is even buggier!

Thanks!
