NFS, Why so slow?

Before you can fix anything you need to know what's going on...  and
as others have said, you need something to compare it to.

The quick and dirty way would be to transfer that file via nfs and
time how long it takes and derive the speed by dividing the size in
bytes or kbytes by the number of seconds it takes to transfer.

Then do the same but transfer the file via FTP

and again by scp

and again by rsync

Then you'll have 4 numbers to compare to give you an idea if it's just
NFS being slow, or if its a network issue, or at the very least you
can rule out an individual service...
