11g has the -maximum- speed of 54MBit/s but will slow down to the best
error-free speed supported and that can be as low as 1MBit/s. In
real-life I have rarely saw 54Mbit/s, the average is around 22Mbit/s
or less. It gets worse as you move further away from the access point
and amount of other networks using the same frequencies around you.
Unless you are virtually next to the AP in a desert, you are very
unlikely to see consistently high speeds.
