JWM crashes on application launch

Hello Ubuntu Users,

I've installed JWM (Windows Manager), the one used in Puppy Linux. I
put 'exec jwm' in my .xinitrc. I then stop gdm from running, type
startx. It comes up. As soon as I try to open any application such as
a terminal, it crashes with errors and takes me back to the virtual
console. Here is the Xorg.0.log immediately after it happened. I am
using the nvidia driver from the repos, and it works fine in Gnome.
