Sudden read only file system? (was help with deleting folders)

I was able to get root access to delete those folders however I still have a problem with my kindle being a read only file system. It only occurs with ubuntu (windows is fine but like siberia I don't want to go there) 

If I go into properties I see the folder access being create and delete files but the file access is blank... 

I've googled some of this and it seems as if the latest kernal might have issues. I'm on 2.6.32-22-generic
