problems with 'x' ing programs in 10.04 remix using gnome option

I will give it a try.

I can not enable any visual effects once I installed 10.04.  Not sure
what happened.  I have a few problems perhaps as a result, mainly when
open office is recovering a file, I can not see the continue/cancel
buttons.
