Anyone noticed higher temps w/lucid vs karmic?

Same laptop (HP G60-530US) w/multiple boot.

If I boot into karmic (many, many apps installed) the TZ0 CPU temp
averages about 45-47C. Kernel 2.6.31-21-generic #36 updated today.

However if I boot to lucid the TZ0 CPU temp averages about 53-55C.
Kernel 2.6.32-22-generic #36 updated today. The lucid install is for
testing & has less apps/services running than karmic.

Both are running the cpu 'ondemand' (1.2Ghz - 2.4Ghz), but the temp
observations are from when the machine is idle running no apps.

Anyone else noticing similar?
