Suddenly A Firefox Issue

Upgraded to Firefox 3.6 using the follow suggested method on
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-install-firefox-3-6-in-ubuntu-karmicjauntyintrepidhardy.html

Now Firefox won't start.

When trying to launch it from a terminal I get ...

(firefox-bin:9768): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

Now if I issue the following command in the terminal ...

firefox -safe-mode

Firefox will start up in safe mode but before it comes up I get this message ...

(firefox-bin:9784): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

Firefox will start normally after starting it in Safe Mode. I close
the Safe Mode program and start Firefox normally, from the terminal I
get these two messages before the browser finally starts.

(firefox-bin:9823): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

(firefox-bin:9823): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

If I close the window, however, the browser will not start until after
I run it in Safe Mode again.

In System Monitor there are two Firefox processes running ...

firefox
firefox-bin

The add-ons I have work in 3.6 and I've made no other changes. I've
tried reinstalling Firefox but that doesn't seem to help. All of my
existing settings weren't removed when I uninstalled the browser. How
can I completely remove all remnants of Firefox and install from
scratch?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
