That explains a lot. The typical oriental way of avoiding social 
confrontations is very tiresome to occidentals like myself and many 
others on this list. The paradox is that by trying to be too polite, you 
actually give the opposite impression.

Because this is an international list, there are oriental people on this 
list too. But those people are easy to spot because of their name, and 
then I change my expectations. Call me prejudiced if you like, I just 
deal with what appears to be a practical way of communicating with other 
people. Your name sounds central european so I would expect that you go 
straight to the point just like myself (I'm from Belgium), not go around 
in circles. Now I know that you have lived in Japan, it helps me to put 
things in a better perspective.
