Are you sure that you pointed it in the right direction? where is the
backup from? Have you looked into all this?
You need to do what you always should when asking for help, provide as
much information as possible.

Give us the command you used and maybe some logs. Check the contents
of your backup, it may be that you accidentally backed up an entire
drive instead of a partition or something to that effect.
