Thanks but I have the default gmail setup so if I reply correctly (and
I may very well have some bloopers somewhere! :) ), it is not my
doing.

In this case, it is a comcast user who broke the thread. His post's header has

"In-Reply-To=1174193398.7279121262995244166.JavaMail.root%40sz0049a.emeryville.ca.mail.comcast.net"

which I assume must mean that comcast misbehaved possibly because he
was replying to another comcast user and/or because he was using
webmail (if JavaMail = webmail).
