Full install vs wubi...

I use Ubuntu solely on my laptop for which I have no issues with. However on my desktop I've largely kept windows mostly due to the QQ program but I think I might try to run that in wine. I've had issues with the installation because I've burned countless cdroms and most of them had issues in some way.

If I were to buy a linux magazine that has a cd of ubuntu and install it from that would I have better performance than under wubi?

I recently had a problem with a kernel upgrade. It got to a OS selection screen and selecting ubuntu stated "unknown error" and put me in the command line. I had to reinstall Ubuntu which wasn't bad...I was just wondering what would be the advantages of doing a full version rather than wubi. thanks
