External Sort Code in C/C++

Hello,

I assume that external sorting is well studied problem and I was surprised
that I could not find any
public domain software ( with the google search ).

Does someone know any external sorting code written in C/C++ which is hidden
under some obscure
layers of Google pagerank? I need this code for File System benchmarking.
