The problem of a alpha version isn't the quality of the software at a given moment, is that it is in a considerable flux. Until it reaches the beta, a broken upgrade can come out and disallow you to boot. Rare, but it has happened. I got once a libc upgrade which made all the programs crash. *All*. dpkg, bash, .... seeing the problem? :p
