I don't know about adding windoze, I generally look for systems 
non-contaminated by any part if it, as I think it a virus at best.  Maybe you 
could try running it in a virtual environment and stay a little safer.  Most 
Kubuntu systems connect easily to Linksys out of the box so I suspect Ubuntu 
would too although it is less configurable.

Since you are comparing, I'd check into the laptops offered at 
http://www.zareason.com/shop/home.php?cat=250 as they seem to offer higher 
end specs for less money!  You can pick your buntu flavor pre-installed and 
tested, plus the super key has the Ubuntu logo!!
