I had a similar but not same problem a while back. The solution may not
apply to you of course.
I have a cordless keyboard and mouse. Both started to play up -
especially the mouse. Took a bit of time to figure out what was causing
the hassle. The receiver station for the k/board and mouse had slipped
under and behind the LCD monitor and the signal was being corrupted by
the monitor. I pulled the receiver to the front of the monitor and
problem disappeared.
