The answer is very simple and has nothing to do with fanaticism.

For MS Office or other desktop applications: virtualisation. I recommend
Virtualbox, but VMWare is also OK.

For games like StarCraft2: dual boot. You'll want the full computing power
of your pc and if certain game vendors only write games for Windows then
you will have to accept their terms and conditions. If you do not accept
that, then choose games that are known to work on Linux.
