Not to be down on Ubuntu, but I never had to go through such trying when
doing that on the Gentoo machines that needed RAID changes. In fact the
RAID is just set up with mdadm in Gentoo and I've even had it boot no
problem without running any command like: mdadm
--examine --scan --config=partitions >> /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf.
