Is it just me, or is there a reason for it?

The level of logging seems to me to be far in excess of what the ordinary
user needs.  I can understand that a developer might need:-

Aug 12 16:37:41 infinity udevd[494]: BUS= will be removed in a future udev
version, please use SUBSYSTEM= to match the event device, or SUBSYSTEMS= to
match a parent device, in /lib/udev/rules.d/52-nut-usbups.rules:6 Aug 12

Maybe someone, somewhere, needs:-

verbosity level 0, debugmode 0

or

But it seems to me that the majority of users probably don't need this
level of reporting, though they want some, perhaps using something like
logcheck. Although these messages can be rendered 'invisible' to the user
by logcheck rules, this requires the mastery of extended regular
expressions, and most users neither want this level of involvement nor want
to spend undue time on system administration.

Do we get these sorts of messages because some debug option hasn't been
turned off when apps have been compiled (i.e. could package maintainers be
persuaded to be more careful in this respect), or is there a good
(user-level) reason for them?
