Solved!: is it ok to disable the complete fsck for every startup?

Thanks for the tips.  I went into /etc/fstab and adjusted the numbers at the 
end of each line that I wanted to edit from 0  2 to 0  0  
	Used a Knoppix live CD to do a complete check of all the directories in my 
system, Ext3, Reiserfs, and NTFS.  Then I booted the system up and all the 
problems were solved.
	Now to get the ISA soundblaster working again, but that is another day.
