Hi, I just Dloaded Ubuntu yesterday and installed it.
Really like it and I think computing would be never the same again.
But today I see the site and it changes to UBUNTO 10.4..
My Question is ...
Do i need to Dload again (Ubuntu 10.4) and run installation again? Or just an upgrade will do? How?
Any recommended book or site? I want to embark on this IDEA "Ubuntu".
Thanks a lot.
I'm a novice MS user and Linux Newbie.

For me the update manager (gasp!) has been my friend through as many
updates as it has been around. Before that it was synaptic.
What can I say, I'm a gooey guy.
My current installation of 10.04 started as Warty Warthog, 4.10. I
think I've used all the .deb handleers (well, not dselect and not much
dpkg).
I only recently upgraded to 10.04 RC and then to the new version today.
The command <sudo update-manager -d> kicks some serious.. dust up
behind it.
Yep, it only does what apt-get already does but it's, "User-Friendly!"
That's important since Ubu can't yet catch on to the psychology of
colors. M$ is where it is partly because light blue instills trust and
loyalty in the 'hooman' mind.

Clean installs are way too windoze for me, I want a distro which can
flawlessly upgrade and update itself without having to delete and reinstall
all the time.

Although not a believer in a deity (sorry, Pastor) I'd still like to
give your sentiment a hardy, "Amen!"
I must say that the upgrade to 10.04 has been the most flawless of all
that I have done. So far I have noticed absolutely no problems
although (sad to say) some people are having some slight troubles.
I'm /almost/ willing to bet on a small number of complaints/troubles
here in the days and weeks to come. We might all have to move over to
Sounder. for a while until the next experimental version.
(wazzit, the Marauding Macaque ?)
This next bit is decidedly OT, not PC nor related to PCs and quite
likely to be offensive to some so, if thin-skinned,
PLEASE LOOK AWAY NOW!:
I had been hoping for 10.04 to be, "Lascivious Ladies," since I know
some of them to be real animals but then remembered that none are
stable.

Thanks for running the search for me. I've been reading the links from
the results of that search, and so far most of them are talking about
slow speeds when using USB.
I think I'm going to go ahead and register my own bug report with
Launchpad, and see if I can get any results that way, as this so far is
specific only to this camera, with all other USB devices working no
problem on my system.

I only detected one problem with this new Ubuntu so far:
emacs is awful!
will make a separate letter about that.

The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make
empty prophecies. The danger already exists that the mathematicians have
made a covenant with the devil to darken the spirit and to confine man in
the bonds of Hell.

*IMPORTANT*
Bob, please check...
the UUID should be for the /boot partition
