help use gedit to edit server files

I don't know if this has been mentioned, and this works with gvim, and
not sure about gedit:

 gvim scp://example.com//path/to/file.txt

For those adverse to wonders of vim/gvim, cream (the user friendly
version) spits out a few warnings, but seems to work as well. Again,
if ssh keys are set up, then there is no password necessary.
