Copying videos to MP4 players and Iphone Touches.

Hi all,
testing Lucid - very excited about the news to sync IPhones. I had a
jailbroken IPhone Touch, copying tracks via SSH was less that intuitive. This
ITouch had to go through a factory re-set, so it was good to see Lucid
recognise it in it's new state when plugged in. Copying audio files in
Rhythmbox work without fault.

Video files seems to be a different matter. I can copy files over to the IPhone
Touch, even ones that have been converted with programmes like Handbreak, but
these files do not seem to be recognised and so can't be played.

I have a similar problem with a Sony E443 MP4 player, this appears as a Mass
Media device when plugged in and I am able to copy files at will. Audio files
appear, video files don't. The additional problem here is not knowing what
parameters to encode the video to.

My brief Googling hasn't revealed anything helpful.

So here I am, canvassing user experience. How do others get their video on
their mobile devices?
