Lucid Beta2 cannot login in workstation

[if-ifone]

my custome.conf orignal is
[daemon]
AutomaticLogin=<username>
AutomaticLoginEnable=true
TimedLoginEnable=false
TimedLogin=<username>
TimedLoginDelay=30

I add
DefaultSession=gnome

run
$ sudo stop gdm
warning: ...failed to acquire org.gnome.displaymanager
warning: ...could not acquire name;bailing out
$ sudo start gdm
warning: ...failed to acquire org.gnome.displaymanager
warning: ...could not acquire name;bailing out

could not start gdm.

startx
only show mouse and blackscreen.


then booting to the recovery console:
set
DefaultSession=gnome-failsafe
$ sudo stop gdm
warning:unable to find user:no seat-id found.
.......
$ sudo start gdm
warning:unable to find user:no seat-id found.
.......

could not start gdm.

startx
only show mouse and blackscreen.
