If you turn off compiz on both sides VNC will work. If you do not
require to interact with the remotes desktop[*], I suggest using NX or
FreeNX instead - that will ssl into the remote and bring a new desktop,
using the same username/login.

[*] By interact with the remotes desktop I am refering to having a user
logged in, you taking control of their mouse etc.
