Now, assuming Steve Ballmer (or more likely Ballmer's secretary, or
intern) makes accurate charts (despite their terrible representation on
the included presentation slide) It would appear that MS's figures put
Linux at ~6% desktop market share, with Mac at ~4% desktop market
share... as compared to ~20% pirated windows, and the ~70% legit
windows. I personally feel the linux stats are probably higher, due to
the huge number of people I know/meet/see using Linux on computers of
every kind when I'm out in public... but who knows.
Comparatively, the browsers chart on that same slide represents Firefox
as having ~20% market share (closer to 19%) with Chrome and Safari each
with ~2%, leaving IE with ~76-77%.
This is my last contribution to this thread, as I agree it should die...
I just felt that the numbers war needed some more perspective.
