You can try adding the line to /etc/rc.local (as you know, before the
exit 0):
sudo vi /etc/rc.local
or if you prefer GUI:
gksu gedit /etc/rc.local
either will execute the edit as root. The rc.local file executes at the
end of boot sequence in all multiuser boots.
