Please bottom post/intersperse on this list.
OK, I take it this is what is meant by the statement just above.

That is not the same machine that you provided info for previously:
No, it is not. It was 1 o'clock in the morning when I sent that info and I
wasn't thinking.
Sorry.
That is the computer that works, running WXP.
I am trying to load Ubuntu 9:04 on the computer listed above

However the 700Mhz should be OK as well. And I understand it has 1.5Gb of
memory - correct? Does the hardy liveCD not boot on both? You have checked
the CD from the startup menu on the CD & it shows to be OK?
Yes, it is 700Mhz and there is 1.5Gb of memory.
The Hardy CD boots on the XP machine but not on the machine above.
The CD shows OK from a check CD on the start-up menu on both machines.
After the check it just goes to (initramifs)

When you get the busybox initramfs error, what *exactly* does the error
message say?
The message is as follows:
[ 4.0543420] I0 APIC resources could not be allocated.
Loading, please wait...

BusyBox v10.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.10.2-2ubuntu7) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of commands.

)initramfs)
