Ubuntu 6.06.2 on IBM xSeries 226: IPMI support? (resent without broken signature)

Folks;

dealing with our IBM hardware support folks, I am just about to try
resolving a strange problem, eventually finding out that ipmitool doesn't
work nicely on our machine. For what I have been told so far, the machine
involved (x Series 226) _should_ support this kind of diagnostics, but so
far I am unsure whether this is the case. Googling around a little, I
figured out a few diagnostic outputs:

-> querying for IPMI information using dmidecode:

root at pvdbsrv:~# dmidecode --type 38
# dmidecode 2.7
SMBIOS 2.33 present.

Wrong DMI structures count: 59 announced, only 57 decoded.

-> trying to start ipmitool / load ipmi modules:

root at pvdbsrv:~# /usr/share/ipmitool/ipmi.init.basic
Setting up OpenIPMI driver...
FATAL: Module ipmi_kcs_drv not found.
FATAL: Error inserting ipmi_si
(/lib/modules/2.6.15-54-server/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko): No such
device

-> dmesg after doing so:

[42996722.950000] IPMI System Interface driver.
[42996722.950000] ipmi_si: Trying "kcs" at I/O port 0xca2
[42996722.980000] ipmi_si: Trying "smic" at I/O port 0xca9
[42996723.030000] ipmi_si: Trying "bt" at I/O port 0xe4
[42996723.070000] ipmi_si: Unable to find any System Interface(s)

So... kindly would like to ask for some insights by those who know: No IPMI?
Any misconfigurations in my case? Old kernel? Any other things I eventually
am missing so far?

TIA and best regards,
Kristian
