I use UNR all day long, I only use XP to load the Qualcomm modem. And
I'm talking about my daily job where I make my $$s, not as a hobby. I
use UNR because it works better for me. When I first got this Aspire,
there were no packaged up instructions about how to get the 3g working,
just people's prior experience to learn from. Extensive use of Google,
and a little experimentation, and I got the 3g working in 9.04, albeit
with the crutch of XP. I'm using it right now. One thing I didn't do is
wine and moan about how it didn't work right out of the box, or 4
messages in 1 day about how I wasn't supported, as if this were a paid
support forum. How much *did* you pay for the advice you've received
here and other forums? Advice and time myself and others have freely given?
In due time, I'll probably upgrade my 9.04 also (after I'm sure I've got
a good restorable backup, still evaluating my options for that), and I'm
watching and learning from other people's experience in doing so. For
the moment, I'm content to let others pioneer the way, hoping they'll
share what they learned as they go, as I've done. If my experience
doesn't benefit you any, then move on.
