Missing shutdown buttons without using FUSA.

Last night I removed the help icon from the gnome panel. After a few reboots I kept getting an error message. I don't remember what it said (something about deleting something) but I don't get it any more.

Now while I was on the Internet (looking at Fallout 3 endings) Firefox just ended and a virus scanner ad popped up. I think it was just an ad and nothing to worry about.

When I booted up the PC this morning I saw that my user name and shut down buttons were missing. I searched around on the Internet for a explanation for this and I found that it could be caused by FUSA. I know that I haven't got anything like FUSA so I still don't know what the problem is.

Thanks in advance.
