That depends on what hardware raid card you have installed. For example, 
3ware has its own 3dm2 tools that can monitor and provide you a cli to 
configure raid arrays.

Most hardware raid vendors provide such software. Using their software 
is the only way to tell what raid levels your arrays are configured with 
without rebooting and entering the raid card's bios.


Of course, fake raid like the raid you get with Nvidia, certain Promise 
cards, etc, etc are not hardware raid at all even if you get a bios 
screen for those.
